When an older person falls, it could take hours or days before they receive help from anyone, which could result in further injury or death.
According to the National Council on Aging (NCOA), falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries for older Americans. These alarming statistics is why InventHelp has created assistance for these fall victims.
"I thought there needed to be a safe, strain-free way to assist someone after a fall," said an inventor with InventHelp in a press release, "so I invented the Elevator Chair.”
While the patent is still pending on this device, it has been proven that the chair would be able to lift someone up after they have fallen to the ground. Instead of having to stay stranded on the floor before assistance arrives, the invention would help them to get up.
“It enhances safety and comfort and it provides added peace of mind,” said an inventor. "My design could help to reduce further injuries for fall victims."
The practical designs these inventors have implemented makes it easy to use for those who are disabled or elderly. The inventors are also able to produce various designs of the Elevator Chair so it can be fitting for a broader audience and reduce the injuries from falling.
According to The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, falls result in more than 2.8 million injuries treated in emergency departments annually, including over 800,000 hospitalizations and more than 27,000 deaths.
